Health and Safety Training for My Job
Saturday, January 28th, 2012
As a part of the new health and safety policy adopted by our company we are now required to have a safety officer in each department. I volunteered to be the safety officer for my area. I look forward to the challenge and responsibility of ensuring the health and safety of my fellow employees and our customers. In order to carry out my new responsibilities I was required to attend a Health and safety training class. The class was very interesting. I never knew there was so much to learn about safety in the corporate environment. I found the class very valuable because it included lessons that I can use outside of the job also. My job as safety officer is to my job is to educate other employees and also to conduct periodic audits within my area of responsibility. I believe that this training prepared me thoroughly to carry out these duties.

Why Industries Prefer Delrin Plastic
Monday, January 23rd, 2012
Delrin plastic, also known as polyoxymethylene, is now gaining an acceptance in the market especially in the United Sates. It is also known by other names such as polyacetal, acetal resin, polyformaldehyde and polutrioxane. Delrin is now widely used since its qualities make it a great substitute to some metal parts.
Delrin can also be used as bearings since it has a low coefficient of friction and is able to offer great resistance to corrosion. Since it has low toxicity level, it has also been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to be used for food containers. Even some of the toys for children today employ the use of Delrin.
It is also known to resist liquid which makes it ideal for paintball gun parts. The music industry also uses this material in the form of guitar picks, offering a better alternative to nylon because picks made of delrin plastic do not slip as much. This is indeed a very versatile material that is why different industries prefer to use it.

Be Careful Read Your Fine Print
Sunday, January 15th, 2012
When you are looking at setting up your first merchant account you have to be careful because fees for merchant accounts are not only expensive but can be tricky if you don’t pay close attention to the fine print. I know about these things because the first company I ever used were so dishonorable. It was so frustrating. The first thing I did wrong was a signed a two year contract. My business did not take off as well as I had expected and I shut it down. When I contacted the people who handled my account, the told me I was liable for the rest of my contract and a 20% early termination fee. The equipment they gave me was a terminal that looked like it was from the 1980′s. My next business I got a month to month account, no cancellation early termination fees. Read your fine print when you look for a company.

Review Assets Before Filing for Divorce
Thursday, January 12th, 2012
The other day a divorce lawyer stopped by my website to describe non-marital assets. Non-marital assets are usually assets that are usually not awarded during a divorce. Instead, non marital assets are assets that are owned specifically by the wife or husband and will remain in their possession after a divorce is final. Some non-marital assets include:
- property or money that you inherit;
-
income present and future inherited by worker’s compensation or accident proceeds
-
any items that were owned before the marriage began;
-
gifts to one party rather than the family.
If non-marital assets are mingled with other assets purchased or improved during the marriage however, it may not be possible to claim the asset as yours in the event of divorce. In some instances, some “tracing” of non-marital assets should be possible. For example if you sell an investment property that you inherited to purchase another investment property then more than likely the judge will be able to determine that the new property belongs solely to you.

Hiring a Chicago Towing Company for Accident Recovery
Sunday, January 8th, 2012
In a congested and busy city like Chicago, an accident is always a possibility, no matter how careful you may be as a driver. After all, you can never be certain that the drivers around you will be as careful as you are, or that you will never have a lapse in concentration. However, what you can control is how well prepared you are, in case an accident does happen. Make sure you contract the services of a top Chicago towing service that is competent and experienced in all accident recovery situations.
The first and most important requirement is reliability. No matter what time of the day or night you report an accident and in whichever part of the city you might be, the professionals should get to you within 20 minutes. Furthermore, when they arrive, they should be fully equipped to extricate your vehicle, tow it to a garage and even repair it on-the-spot, in case the accident is a minor one. Additionally, the professionals should take on the responsibility to transport you to a hospital, your residence or a destination of your choice. Only if you can get complete assurances should you contract any Chicago towing service.

I Got a Message That Said “Internet Banking Login”
Saturday, January 7th, 2012
I got a message that said “internet banking login” in one of my new email messages. I was puzzled as to why I got a message like that so I opened it. In the message, it said that I was having problems logging in my bank account online. They notified me to go to the link below the message so I can fix the problem.
I clicked the link and was directed to the bank’s website. I was asked to verify some information. After verifying, I was then asked to put my new user ID and password. That’s all it took for me to fix the problem and I went to the website’s homepage. I tried logging in using my new user ID and password and successfully logged in my account. I completely forgot about my problems logging in and I wouldn’t have able to log in my online bank account if it weren’t for that email.

Field Installable Connector – Intrinsic Element of Cable Termination Systems
Friday, January 6th, 2012
The fibre to the home network (FTTH) relies on the field installable connector for smooth and successful operations. The modern day field connectors enable one step termination and have made the whole process very fast. Operations like epoxy curing and polishing ferrule which were earlier conducted in the field are now part of the production process in the factory. Even the installer could re terminate the connector a couple of times hence increase the termination yields. This in turns brings down the installation and the connectorization costs.
The connector comes with a visual fault locator which ensures proper connectorization. The reliable and easy to install field installable connector is highly performance oriented, easy to use and is very cost effective. The insertion loss which was earlier a problem with the other epoxy and polish connectors has also been addressed very well in the field connector. These connectors are suited for harsh environment conditions in the sea.

Quality Issues for Custom Label Printing for the Food Industry
Thursday, January 5th, 2012
When custom made label printing is required for applications on food items, care has to be taken so that the food items are never contaminated. That is why the US FDA issues stringent rules and regulations for the purpose of food packaging. Most major fresh foods producing companies use custom printed paper labels which does not use any adhesive at all. They are tabbed so that they can be easily removed before consumption. One of the major factors that rules In the favor of custom printed food packing labels is the control over the quality of the printing ink and also the paper labels that are used. The ink as per the US FDA has to comply with stringent quality standards. Unless these paper labels are custom made that cannot be achieved. These labels should also be easy to apply using hand or a machine application that automates the labeling process.

My Interview is for Next Week
Tuesday, December 13th, 2011
I have not worked in the business world in five years. When I was pregnant with my twins, I took a leave of absence, then knew I couldn’t go back and let someone else raise my babies. They are in school now though and it is time that I returned to the working world. I knew that my old position was no longer available because the company had went out of business. I decided to look up human resources jobs on the Internet. I had found some work at home positions throughout the last few years this way, so I figured I should be able to find a full time job outside of the home that way too. I found quite a few and since I had all the requirements, I went ahead and applied for all of them. The one I was really wanting the most called me earlier today and I go in next week for an interview. Wish me luck!

In an Effort to Reduce Accidents, Website Hosts Accident Video Clips
Monday, December 12th, 2011
On average, 9 pedestrians die while 21 are injured in pedestrian car accidents in Florida weekly. As a part of the ‘See the Blind Spots’ campaign, a controversial call was made and a graphic video showing a pedestrian accident has been placed on their site, ww.seetheblindspots.com. But Florida’s senator, Mike Fasano is campaigning for the video clip to be removed because he thinks that it is too horrific.
However, the site warns viewers “The following video contains graphic footage and may be unsuitable for small children. Viewer discretion advised.”
The clip shows a car that slams into a pedestrian and the pedestrian gets thrown up onto the car’s hood then gets crushed to the pavement. Some other videos simply show body bags.
This site is out to educate drivers and pedestrians since over 50% of pedestrian car accidents have the pedestrians to blame as they refuse to obey the traffic regulations thus lapse in judgment when they attempt to cross a street. Below are some safety measures for pedestrians since drivers are never looking out for them.
- Be attentive and alert and only cross when it is safe
- Heed to the Do not Walk and Walk signals
- Look left, right, left before you cross
- When you are crossing a street, you should check for traffic at all times mainly vehicles that are turning right on red.
- Never assume that a drive is seeing you. Ensure that you make eye contact
- Make use of the available side walks. If they are not there, then walk while facing traffic
- Never walk across or along freeways and highways
- At night, wear reflective clothes and also carry a flash light
- Be careful about your alcohol intake seeing that 35% of killed pedestrians were under its influence
- Look out for kids when they’re crossing streets as they never have the right judgment to assess the prevailing situation

Flash Mob at the North Pole
Wednesday, December 7th, 2011
It appears that flash mobs are striking everywhere these days and even Santa’s workshop is not off limits. Around 2:00 PM yesterday afternoon Oli, one of Santa’s most trusted Elves, noticed a rather large gathering of Elves outside the workshop. All of the elves came in at once and crowded the workshop to the gills. They started to take toys, electronic equipment, HDTVs, and Wii’s among other items. Video Surveillance captured the event but unfortunately identifying suspects has been difficult. “I know it might sound racist but they all look alike.” said Santa still reeling from the incident.
This is the first time in recorded history that there has been any crime at Santa’s Village but do to the slumping economy worldwide even Elves have had a rough time finding jobs and staying on the right side of the law. “I haven’t had a candy cane in three days,” said Lumpkin “I am afraid we have picked the last of the sugar plums and we now have to resort to stealing. You don’t want to know what Trixie has been doing to make ends meet. Let’s just say she has the right name for it.”
Santa Claus had recently worked with law enforcement to place video surveillance in high traffic areas worldwide to keep track of who was naughty and who was nice. He never thought he needed video surveillance in his own town. “It’s a sad day for me. Things are tough all over. We are running seriously low on candy canes and cookies. I pay the elves with the cookies and treats I collect the previous Christmas. People just weren’t as generous as they were in years past,” said a down trodden Santa said. When we asked Santa about his new spa being built at his mansion in Aruba, he said, “No comment.”
Well times are tough this year and even Santa’s Village is seeing the effects. Hopefully this crime wave stops soon and all the elves can get back to work. Please make sure to give extra cookies and candy to Santa this year. He and his elves desperately need it.
On a sad note, Lumpkin died of exposure two days after I left Santa’s Village. It was reported that the body had been stripped of the elf shoes, shiny belt, and pointy hat. A ceremony will be held Donder’s Tavern. Frosty the Snowman will preside over the funeral. Lumpkin is survived by his wife Trixie, his son’s Lumpkin Jr., Frumpkin, Trumpkin, and Steve. Lumpkin was only 172 years old.

We Are Moving into a Larger Apartment
Sunday, December 4th, 2011
One of the main reasons that I am excited to move into our new apartment is because it is larger. We have been living in a one-bedroom apartment ever since we got married. We are going to be moving into a two-bedroom apartment and now we will have a lot more space. We are going to use that extra bedroom as an office and for when we have guests come and stay with us. This is going to be very convenient because my husband and I own a business and we work from home. Right now we use the kitchen table for all of our work and we always have our computer set up on it. This can be very frustrating when we want to eat dinner or breakfast. As soon as we move into the new place I am going to look for a computer desk and buy one or two of them.

Assignment on Conducting a Survey
Saturday, December 3rd, 2011
A friend of mine is a graduate student at a university. His major is psychology. As part of his graduate thesis, his is doing a study on human behavior and stereotypes. He designed a survey, and he was able to find a service that could help him tap into survey software that is representative of a cross-section of the U.S. population. He needed responses from 1,000 people. He said that so far, the results that he is getting from his survey are interesting. Survey responses were coming in quickly, and he thinks that he will be able to get the raw data gathered in another week. He is very pleased with how easy it is to conduct a survey. As a budding psychologist, he will probably have to conduct research in his field in the future. He said that surveys are an integral part of the psychology field, and researchers are always looking for ways to conduct them easily and conveniently.
